RESIDENCE UNDER THE MAPLE: Architecture in Leafy Symbiosis

The Residence Under the Maple is a testament to architectural restraint and environmental respect. Nestled on a picturesque, wooded plot, this 835 m² villa was designed to coexist with its green inhabitants. In a remarkable feat of planning, only three trees were removed to accommodate this expansive structure, allowing the forest to remain the project’s true protagonist.

Origami-Inspired Form

The building’s silhouette draws inspiration from the art of origami, with a roofline that folds and extends to create dramatic protective canopies over the outdoor living spaces. The ground floor is almost entirely transparent, creating the illusion that the heavy, black slate-clad upper volume is floating weightlessly above the terrain. This modern aesthetic is softened by the use of natural wood on the soffits and ground-level facades.

The Heart of the Forest

The C-shaped floor plan creates a private sanctuary centered around a covered terrace.

The Living Core: A double-height lounge features soaring glass walls that frame a majestic, decades-old lime tree.

Seamless Wellness: The furthest wing houses a professional-grade pool with a counter-current system and a jacuzzi. The glass partitions here can be opened, effectively merging the spa experience with the surrounding woodland.

Upstairs Sanctuary: The first floor contains private suites, each with a balcony positioned to capture specific botanical views—from a towering larch to the lush canopy of the maple tree.

Sustainable Engineering

Hidden beneath its elegant form is a sophisticated heart. The residence utilizes ground-source heat pumps for sustainable heating and cooling, drawing energy directly from the earth. All technical installations, storage, and pool systems are located in a thoughtfully planned basement, ensuring the living areas remain a pure space for relaxation and connection with nature.
