The Monolith Residence

A Symbiosis of Form and Nature

Located in a tranquil area near Warsaw, the White Residence is a sanctuary where architecture plays a supporting role to the landscape. This 683 m² villa by Exterio was designed with a profound respect for the existing ecosystem of a one-hectare wooded plot.

Forest-First Approach

The design process began not with sketches, but with a precise inventory of the site’s trees and shrubs. By stepping the building back from the road and weaving it into the greenery, the architects created a hidden retreat. From the street, only fragments of the house are visible, ensuring absolute privacy and a sense of mystery.

Minimalist Composition

The building’s form consists of several interlocking cuboids, creating a rhythmic arrangement of solid volumes and deep recesses.

The Play of Light: The pristine white facades serve as a canvas for the ever-changing shadows cast by the forest. Dark graphite accents in the alcoves and black window frames provide a sharp, modern contrast.

Functional Shading: Deep arcades house the terraces and the driveway, protecting the interiors from overheating while framing panoramic views of the ancient trees.

Tailored Functionality

The layout is masterfully divided to balance social life and private relaxation:

The Living Zone: The center of the home is a grand, 4.5-meter-high living area, flooded with light and surrounded by terraces on three sides.

Private Wings: The ground floor features a secluded master suite, while the first floor is dedicated to children’s rooms and guest quarters.

Lifestyle Amenities: The residence includes a home office, sauna, and gym. A separate utility building and a small greenhouse cater to the owners’ passion for gardening.
